What is contemporary ice skating?

Amidst the spins and sequins of traditional figure skating, a few irreverent yet international level athletes turned away from the aging traditions of “On Ice” entertainment in order to develop a new form of contemporary and urban dance using the magic of gliding.

‘Le Patin Libre’ is a Franco-Canadian company recognized as pioneers of this new performance art.  They will be proposing their work in Berlin for the first time.

‘What is contemporary skating?’ is a short genre-defining performance regrouping short pieces that marked the evolution of the collective and excerpts of their latest creation.

After the performance, the public will be invited on the ice stage to meet the artists and to try dancing and partying on skates themselves.
