Halloween Party on Ice : November 2007

A giant step for Le Patin Libre! And a great success!

The troop organises an event of its own for the first time. This independance allows a maximum or dynamism and originality. The energy of the troop is not constrained by the dictates of small contracts... More than 450 people answer to the call by filling up completely Sainte-Julie's ice rink.

For the occasion, the troop presents its "Manifesto Number" made to be presented with spectators on the ice. This firework of new wave skating stunts launches the night. The barrel jumper Pierre Bernier joins the troop for the first time.

The night continues with a crazy adaptation of the medieval tale of Hamelin's flute player. The piece "Le Joueur de Flûte" allies performances of more than 45 artists including a group of young skaters living an extraordinary adventure through this project that involved many dozens of hours of rehersals.

Nicholas Young, an international level senior skate, ends the night by accepting a challenge from the troop: a face off between his traditional skating and the new acrobatic style developped by the troop. The public is amazed by both and Nicholas finally decides to join the troop!

Between the shows, the spectators can enjoy public skating animated by the troop. They had been invited to come with their skates and Halloween costumes. Many use this opportunity to meet the stars of the troop, skate with the family, participate in organised games and even improvises small performances.

Because of this popular success, the troop is able to give out grants to all its skaters that will participate to divisional and canadian championships.

Thanks to all ! It's only a beginning...
